2013 Women's Lacrosse Season Recap

Although the win-loss record may not indicate it, the Rosemont Women’s Lacrosse team made great strides this season as Head Coach Sue Dotsey works with her team to build momentum with the goal of returning to a more competitive program in the years to come.

The team improved over their statistics of the 2012 season in almost every major statistical category. The team scored 67 goals this season, an increase of 68% over last season. In other major statistical categories the team showed improvement in offense:

  • Goals per game (+79%)
  • Free-Position Goals (+50%)
  • Assists (+475%)
  • Points (+195%)
  • Shots (+27%)
  • Shooting percentage (+32%)
  • Shots on goal percentage (+6%)
  • Shots per game (+36%)
  • “Man up” Goals (3 vs. 0 last season)
  • Ground Balls (+5%)
  • Draw Controls Won (+20%)
  • Clear percentage (+34%)

Andrea Dossantos played the entire season in goal and provided improved stats between the pipes for the Ravens compared to Rosemont’s tandem of goalkeepers in 2012.

  • Goals allowed (-7%)
  • Save percentage (+1%)

Brittany Fuller, the team’s leading scorer played her final season with the Ravens, scoring 21 goals which represents her career high. Adding her three assists gave her 24 points, again the most in her career.

In 2013, the team boasted seven different players netting at least five goals (compared to four players last season). Laura Bunyard, scoreless in six shots in 2012, found the groove in 2013 by notching 9 goals to finish as the team’s second-leading scorer. Lauren Lombardo, moved from defense to attack this year, answered the challenge with eight goals. Freshman Gina Ragona also had eight goals. Molly Hicks (6), Kerry Hars (6) and Kristy Evans (5) rounded out the players with at least five goals on the year.

Coach Dotsey and her team bade farewell to Fuller and Lombardo as the graduating seniors of the squad, leaving a cadre of up-and-coming teammates to return to the field in 2014.
