Mascot

As part of its wider plan to emphasize and expand its enrollment, programs, and reputation by embracing co-education, partnerships, and online education, Rosemont College is pleased to announce a new athletic identity, which will serve as the face of Rosemont College. The College has replaced the Rosemont Ramblers and corresponding Rambling Rose logo with the Rosemont Ravens. The new identity was unveiled on Sunday, August 30 following the College's Convocation Ceremony.

The men's soccer team will be the first to don the insignia on their uniforms for their game against Valley Forge Christian College on Saturday, September 5.

Since 1983, the College's athletic programs have been known as the Rosemont Ramblers. With the start of a new era of educational and athletic opportunities for both men and women, the College's administration felt the change was important to implementing its newly adopted Strategic Plan.

The Ravens emerged as the winner following a public, online survey which was conducted by the College this past spring and included input from current students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the administration. Over 60% of the survey participants were alumni of the College. "Today we celebrate the rich history and tradition of the well-established spirit of Rosemont athletics," said Lynn Rothenhoefer, Athletics Director at the unveiling. "At the same time, we celebrate our athletic re-founding with this new visual identity that is contemporary and powerful."

Later this fall, the College will retire "Rosie, the Rosemonster," which has been the College's school mascot, separate from the athletic mascot, since 1988.

Rosemont’s athletic identity project was led by Maryland based North Charles Street Design Organization. The Ravens’ logo will be displayed on everything from the multipurpose gym floor to team uniforms and memorabilia. A new team plush will be unveiled later this year and a "Name the Mascot" contest has been announced.

The new Rosemont Ravens primary mark is included with this release. The primary and secondary logos are also available on the Rosemont Ravens site (http://www.rosemont.edu/athletics/). In addition, the department will continue to use maroon (PMS color 188) and grey (PMS color 430) as its official colors, while utilizing white and black as accent colors in many of the logos and marks.
