2012 Men's Soccer Season Recap
The Ravens completed their season in second place in the conference and decisively won their semifinal game against Marywood University, 4-1. On 11/4, Rosemont were defeated 2-1 by Cabrini in the CSAC Championship game.
The championship game marked the first time that a Rosemont team had a chance of winning a championship for an automatic bid into an NCAA tournament. A win in the championship game would have brought Rosemont its first conference championship since 1993, when the tennis team won the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference.
Ultimately, the team finished with a record of 11-8-1. The eleven wins represent the most wins in a season for the program, besting the ten wins from the team's 2011 season. The team will graduate six seniors for the class of 2013: Pat McElroy, Ryan Hartzell, Ahmed Faik, Ryan McElroy, Ron Vogelei and Nick Hulayew. The team will certainly miss the talent of these four-year charter members of the program in the 2013 season!
Pat McElroy had a breakout season, scoring 14 goals, leading the CSAC in goals, points and game-winning goals. Nick Hulayew was solid between the posts all season, finishing 2nd in the conference in goals-against average and 2nd in shutouts.
Seven team members were named to All-CSAC teams. Pat McElroy and Ryan Hartzell were named to the First Team. Nick Hulayew, Ryan McElroy, Rodney Aguirre and Luke McIlvaine were named to the Second Team and Ahmed Faik was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
Head Coach Will Nord won his second Coach-of-the-Year award. It was the second time that coach Nord had earned the award in his four years of coaching at Rosemont.
