ROSEMONT – 19 Rosemont student-athletes earned their way onto this year’s Colonial States Athletic Conference’s (CSAC) Fall 2010 All-Academic Team. The team is comprised of fall-sport, student-athletes who managed a GPA of 3.2 or higher for the semester while maintaining varsity status. In total, 528 CSAC student-athletes of the twelve member institutions made the cut this fall, 65 more than the previous year’s recipients.
“It is my pleasure to announce that 528 CSAC student-athletes have achieved the level of academic success necessary to be named to the Fall 2009 CSAC All-Academic Team,” said CSAC Commissioner, Amy Friedman. “These student-athletes have assumed leadership roles on their campuses by demonstrating that a complete education includes both academics and athletics.”
Of the 19 student-athletes from Rosemont on the list, seven were from field hockey and volleyball three from women’s tennis and two from men’s soccer. In addition, nine were repeat honorees from the 2008 team.
From the field hockey team, seniors Mary Kate Dugan (Upper Darby), Laura Kyle (Doylestown /CB East), and Lindley Rittweger (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh), sophomores Caitlin Edgar (Browns Mills, N.J./Permberton Twp) and Elizabeth Goodwin (Blandon./Fleetwood), and first years Alycia Cresta (Portsmouth, N.H./Portsmouth) and Ashley Montecchio (Aston/Sun Valley) .
Representing on the volleyball team were seniors Jessica DeMaskey (West Chester /West Chester East), Janise Henderson (Greenwood, Del./Sussex Tech), and Tofunmi Osundeko (DuBois), juniors Christa Bednarek (Philadelphia/St. Basil’s), Karen Boyle (Swarthmore, PA/Archbishop Prendergast), and Monica Jasienski (Philadelphia/Bishop Shanahan) and sophomore Ciara Figliuolo (Philadelphia/Methacton).
Senior Priyanka Reddy (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) and first years Karis Coad (Baltimore, Md./Clarkstown South) and Olesya Kuchma (St. Davids/Rador) represented from women’s tennis.
Rounding out the list from men’s soccer were first years Patrick McElroy (Stratford, N.J./Sterling) and Ron Vogelei (Bensalem).
