ROSEMONT – Despite a goal and defensive save from junior co-captain Ashley Conti (Little Falls, N.J./Passaic Valley), the Rosemont College field hockey team dropped a conference game to Marywood University 3-1. This loss drops the Ravens to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference while the Pacers improve to 2-6 and 1-2 respectively.

All three of Marywood’s goals came in the first half with first year Emily Eremo (Factoryville/Lackawanna Trail) scoring the opening goal in the 13th minute of play.   Seven minute later, sophomore Dana Sweeney (Sussex, N.J./High Point) scored what would be the game winner by dodging Raven goalkeeper Adriann Demchenko (Philadelphia/George Washington) and pushing the ball swiftly into the back of the cage.

The Pacer’s final goal came in the 26th minute of play when first year Amber Mohrmann (Prompton/Honesdale) drove a shot into the opposite side of the cage.

The Ravens lone goal came in the 45th minute of play when Conti got a deflection off Marywood goalkeeper Jamie Bowman (Cheshire, Conn./Chesire) and quickly pushed the ball in.

Despite earning 12 penalty corners, seven more after the goal, Rosemont was unable to convert anymore scoring opportunities.

Demchenko finished the day with 10 saves while Bowman recorded three.

Rosemont will next travel to Neumann University on Thursday, October 1st for a conference match at 4pm.
