ROSEMONT – Two penalty kick goals from junior Troy Allen (Oley/Oley Valley) gave Cabrini College the cushion to defeat Rosemont College 3-0 in conference play Saturday. This win drops the Ravens to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference while the Cavaliers improve to 7-2-1 overall and 1-0 in the CSAC.

Cabrini got on the board in the sixth minute of play when senior Justin McCall (Brookhaven/Sun Valley) scored off a corner kick from sophomore Kyle Johnson (Newtown Square/Marple-Newtown).

The Rosemont defense settled down until the last minute of play in the half when goalkeeper Ron Vogelei (Bensalem) committed a foul in the box. Cabrini’s Allen made the most of the opportunity and quickly put it in the back of the net giving them a 2-0 lead at the half.

Another foul, this time from first year Patrick McElroy (Stratford, N.J./Sterling) in the 47th minute of play gave the Cavaliers another penalty kick. Allen stayed perfect and notched his second goal of the day giving his team a 3-0 lead.

Though the Ravens had scoring opportunities throughout the half, they were unable to capitalize on any and the game ended 3-0.

Vogelei finished the afternoon with 12 saves off of 21 Cavalier shots. Rosemont recorded 12 shots on the afternoon and three corner kicks.

Rosemont will next host Keystone College in CSAC action on Saturday, October 3rd at noon.
