Lauren Whelan Earns NSCAA All-Region Honors

ASTON, Pa. – Rosemont College sophomore forward Lauren Whelan represented the Colonial States Athletic Conference on the 2013 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Women's All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team, as announced by association officials Wednesday. This was the second consecutive year that Whelan has earned a place on the NSCAA All-Region Team.

Whelan (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland Regional), the 2012 CSAC Rookie of the Year, was an all-CSAC first team selection this season. She tallied 11 goals, five of which were game-winners and seven of which came in league contests. She also set a career-high with seven assists for 29 points, which ranked her second on the team and third in the CSAC. Whelan led the Ravens in shots (76) and shots on goal (35) and listed second in the CSAC in assists, third in shots and game-winning goals and fourth in goals.

In the program's third season of intercollegiate competition, Rosemont earned the top seed in the CSAC playoffs with a 9-2 record in league matches and finished the campaign with a 12-8 overall mark. The Ravens downed fourth-seeded Centenary College, 2-1, in the CSAC semifinals before suffering a 4-3 setback in the title game to Cabrini.
