PLAYOFF HOPES FALL IN 5-4 LOSS TO PACERS

ROSEMONT – The Rosemont College women’s tennis team lost a heartbreaker to Marywood University 5-4 Sunday. This loss puts the team out of playoff contention earning them an impressive fifth placement in the Colonial States Athletic Conference but still one spot shy of a berth. The team ends its season 6-7 overall and 6-4 in the CSAC.

The Ravens dug themselves a hole capturing only one victory in doubles action. First doubles partners Priyanka Reddy (Syosset. N.Y./Syosset) and Olesya Kuchma (St. Davids/Radnor) won 8-3 despite going down an early break.

Both players won in singles with Reddy winning first singles 6-1, 6-0 and Kuchma following suit in second singles 6-0, 6-1. Reddy finishes her impressive collegiate career with a 59-1 record going undefeated in regular season play all four years. Kuchma finishes her rookie season with a 12-2 record.

Rounding out the winners was first year Kate Clarkson (Bensalem). Clarkson came back after dropping the first set to win 6-7, 6-4, 10-6 in sixth singles actions.

Rosemont is now 2-15 historically against the Pacers.
