ROSEMONT – The Rambler tennis team collected their first win in over two years with a 5-4 victory over non-conference Alvernia College. This win is the first since the team defeated Chestnut Hill back on September 20, 2006.  First year head coach Jack Rubano collects his first collegiate career win as the team starts off the season with an overall record of 1-0.

Junior Priyanka Reddy (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) continued her undefeated collegiate career as she beat Alvernia’s Jenny McKee 6-2, 6-2 in first singles. Reddy is now 26-0 as a Rambler. First years Winifred Wolfe (Wayne/Radnor), Becky Zimmerman (Lebanon/Annville Cleona), and Cassandra Cuadro (Allentown/Louis E Dieruff) collected their first wins at second, fourth and fifth singles respectively.  Wolfe and Cuadro had two-set victories while Zimmerman came back from one set down to defeat Samantha Bader 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.

The first doubles team of Reddy and Winifred Wolfe earned the only win in doubles action as they outscored Alvernia 8-4. The second doubles team of senior Jessica Williams (Ardmore/Arch. Carroll) and Zimmerman put up a strong fight as they fought back from a 1-5 deficit to level the set 5-5. Ultimately they were unable to get the win as they lost the game 5-8.

The Ramblers will continue their non-conference schedule as they take on Arcadia University on September 3rd. The game is at Rosemont and will begin at 4:00 pm.
