ROSEMONT – First year Rodney Aguirre (Hammonton/Oakcrest) scored the game winner in the Rosemont College men’s soccer team’s 2-1 win against Baptist Bible College Monday. This win improves the Ravens to 5-6 overall and 3-3 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference while the Defenders drop to 5-10-1 and 1-3-1, respectively.

Aguirre’s goal came in the 78th minute off a pass from first year Ryan Hartzell (Willow Grove/Upper Dublin). Aguirre dodged the keeper and swiftly put it into the goal.

The Ravens opened up the scoring in the 41st when first year Patrick McElroy (Stratford, N.J./Sterling) hit a laser into the goal giving the team a 1-0 lead at the half.

Defender Caleb Byron equalized in the 60th when he capitalized on a loose ball in front of the goal.

It was a very even match with Rosemont compiling 21 shots and four corner kicks to Baptist’s 22 and one.

First year goalkeeper Ron Vogelei (Bensalem) notched 13 saves for the Ravens while Luke Williams had eight for the Defenders.

Rosemont next travels to Philadelphia Biblical University for a conference match on Wednesday, October 21st at 4pm.
