ROSEMONT – Taking its fourth straight conference victory, the Rosemont College women’s tennis team defeated Baptist Bible College 8-1 Thursday. The Ravens stay perfect in the conference with a 4-0 record while lifting their overall record to 4-3. The Defenders drop to 1-6 overall and 1-4 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.

Rosemont started off the match with a dominant doubles performance taking all three contests. First years Kate Clarkson (Bensalem) and Lauren Rivera (Penn Valley/Harriton) put up a strong fight in second doubles edging out Julie Herr and Sarah Salzman 9-8 (7-5).

It was a similar story in singles with the Ravens capturing all but one match. Senior captain Priyanka Reddy (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) is still perfect at first singles defeating Katie Boger 6-0, 6-1. Reddy is now 7-0 in singles play on the year.

First year Olesya Kuchma (St. Davids/Radnor) defeated Kelly Bernard at second singles 6-1, 6-1 while first year Karis Coad (Baltimore, Md./Clarkstown South) pushed through a tough first set to defeat Herr 7-5, 6-0 in third singles.

Rounding out the victors were Clarkson and Rivera. Clarkson took fourth singles 6-4, 6-1 while Rivera, in her first fourth singles match of the year, took the match in straight sets 6-2, 6-0.

Baptist Bible’s Rebecca Wagner notched the only victory for her team defeating first year Julie Guerrero (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx Theater) in sixth singles 6-0, 6-1.

Rosemont improves to 1-1 overall against the Defenders in head to head matches.

The Ravens will look to make it five in a row when they travel to Keystone College on Saturday, September 26 for a conference match. Game time is set for 1pm.
