ROSEMONT- The Rosemont softball team captured its first win in 67 games after splitting a conference double header to College of Notre Dame 0-5, 13-5. This loss improves the team to 1-20 overall and 1-15 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC).

In game two, the Ramblers went into the sixth tied 5-5. After loading the bases, the Gators committed a throwing error on the force at home to score sophomore Krissy Muff (Upper Darby/Archbishop Prendergast) and open up the floodgates for an eight run inning.

In the inning, junior Adriann Demchenko (Philadelphia/George Washington) sent a bomb over the left field fence in the top of the sixth for a three run-homer, her first of the year. She finished the day three for six (.500) with three RBI.

First year Caitlin Mazzoni (Middletown, Del./Middletown) received her first collegiate win pitching 3.2 innings striking out four and allowing one earned run. She also was four for six (.667) at the plate with two RBI.

In game one, Rosemont could not get any offensive effort going as Notre Dame pitcher Katryn Ellis (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) threw a complete game shutout allowing only four hits.

The team also had a tough time in the field as they committed two errors that led the all but one run being unearned.

Also for the Ramblers, first year Becky Zimmerman (Lebanon/Annville Cleona) was four for seven (.571) on the day with two RBI.

Rosemont’s last win came on March 28th, 2007 when the team defeated Philadelphia Biblical University in non-conference action.

Rosemont will look to extend this win streak as they take on Immaculata University, Thursday April 23rd at 3pm in Malvern, Pa.
