VOLLEYBALL RAVENS THRASHED BY LADY LIONS

The Ravens return home for their next match to face Arcadia University on Saturday, 9/26.  The starting time of the match is 12 noon. 

HARRISBURG - The Rosemont Ravens volleyball team suffered through scoring lapses in all three sets tonight,and the Penn State-Harrisburg Lady Lions took advantage, defeating the Ravens in straight sets, 10-25, 12-25 and 22-25.  The loss is the third consecutive for Rosemont and drops them below the .500 mark with a 3-4 overall record.  The Lady Lions improved to 8-5 overall (2-0 NEAC).
 
In the first set, the Lady Lions reeled off seven straight points and took a comfortable 11-1 early lead.  Penn State-Harrisburg held off the Ravens and extended their lead to easily win the first set.  In the second set the Ravens again had difficulty getting started.  Down 0-4, the Lady Lions continued to exert pressure and pulled away from Rosemont.  In the final set the Ravens broke a 4-4 tie and outpointed Penn State-Harrisburg 10-3 to take a 14-7 lead.  Ceding a side-out, the Lady Lion's Amanda Wade served for nine straight points, putting the Ravens behind 16-14.  The Ravens fought back, tying the game at 16-16, 19-19 and 21-21, taking the lead 22-21.  But another untimely side-out to the Lady Lion's Miranda Jumper enabled Penn State-Harrisburg to close out the game and the match by winning the final four points.
 
Junior Karen Boyle (Swarthmore, PA/Archbishop Prendergast) had two service aces to lead the team in that department.  Junior Christa Bednarek (Philadelphia/St. Basil Academy) had nine assists and four digs while first year Robin Renodo (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Laughlin) also had four digs and led the Ravens with four kills.
