2009 Season Overview

It was a banner year for the 2009 Ravens.  The team earned its best record and highest conference ranking in 10 years.  It boasted one Player of the Year, two All-Conference team picks and one All-Sportsmanship award winner.  The team finished the season 6-7 overall and 6-4 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference placing it fifth in the CSAC.

The team was led by first year head coach Shawn Becker.  Becker led the team to a .462 winning percentage, the highest since the 1999 season.  Under him, the team saw its first conference victory against Cabrini College in 10 years.

The Ravens were led by senior captain Priyanka Reddy.  Reddy was the anchor of the young squad.  She turned out another impressive year going undefeated with a 13-0 overall and 10-0 CSAC record.  For her impressive efforts, she was named the CSAC Player of the Year and named to the All-Conference Team in the First Singles Flight.  Reddy ends her Rosemont career 59-1.

Stepping into the second singles position and partnering with Reddy at first doubles was first year Olesya Kuchma.  Kuchma opened up her tab at Rosemont with an 11-2 overall and 9-1 CSAC record defeating top conference teams Gwynedd Mercy College and Neumann University.  She earned a spot on the honorable mention list of the All-Conference Team.

Reddy and Kuchma partnerd up and were a strong pairing at first doubles going 11-2 overall and 8-2 in the CSAC.

First year Karis Coad was in third singles this year.  She compiled a 5-8 overall record and an even 5-5 in the conference.  She partnered up with first year Barbara Lally at third doubles with a a 4-4 CSAC and 5-6 overall record.  Lally was the fourth singles starter and went 4-5 in the conference and 4-8 overall.  She was also named to the CSAC All-Sportsmanship team for her strong character and actions throughout the season.

Rounding out the starters this year were first years Lauren Rivera and Kate Clarkson.  Rivera played most of her matches at sixth singles.  She was 6-7 overall and 6-4 in the conference while Clarkson was 7-6 overall and 7-3 in the conference splitting her time at fourth, fifth and sixth singles.

The Ravens will take a hit as Reddy graduates this year, but the remainder of the starters will be back and should make another good run in the conference.
