The women's soccer team completed their inaugural season in 2011 with many success stories.
Head Coach Aaron Tritch's charges entered the first match not knowing what to expect out of his new program. Looking back on the season, Coach Tritch must be proud of his first team’s accomplishments.
After the first match, a 7-0 win over Valley Forge Christian, the team gained significant confidence. That confidence would help them defeat their first CSAC opponent, Keystone College, in a 3-2 overtime win. The team was 2-1 after their first three games.
The schedule was not as kind to the Ravens after that as the team finished with an overall record of 3-11-1 (2-8-1 CSAC). Rosemont picked up other conference points with a shutout win against Philadelphia Biblical (2-0) and a scoreless tie against Cedar Crest. The Ravens finished in 9th place in the conference after being picked 12th in the pre-season poll.
Sophomore transfer Amanda Botbyl used her excellent ball-control skills to lead the Ravens in scoring with six goals and two assists for 14 points on 43 shots.
Katharine "Shortie" Reppert ran past many of her defenders on her way to netting five goals with three assists to finish with 13 points on 24 shots.
Other goal scorers in the team's first season were Kerry Hars (2 on 20 shots), Haley Philpott (2 on 11 shots), Stephanie Marks (1 on 2 shots) and Gabby Delogu (1 on 1 shot). Jessica Versage scored three points on three assists while Courney Whelan, playing excellent defense on the back line, and Shabria Shields each chipped in with an assist.
Game-winning goals were scored by Botbyl, Reppert and Delogu (in overtime).
In goal, the Rosemont keeper, Gina Donnelly played over 1,200 minutes. She ceded 41 goals for a 3.02 goals-against average. Donnelly saved 130 shots and was credited with two shutouts for the season (sharing duties for a third shutout with Delogu).
Valerie Cathcart launched six shots in her 10 games played, while Diana Hamlin was credited with a couple of shots from her defensive position. Ashley "Jimmy" Jimenez and Vimbainashe "Vee" Dihwa also contributed important minutes for the team.
Now that the 2011 season is behind them, there are now expectations for next season. The Ravens will likely not be polled for last place for 2012, and Coach Tritch will be working to take steps to put more games in the team's win column next season.
