ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference announced its 2009-2010 Winter-Spring All-Academic Team. The team is comprised of all student-athletes from the winter and spring seasons that earned a 3.2 semester grade point average of higher; all winter sports are an average of the two semesters.
“It is my pleasure to announce that 483 Colonial States Athletic Conference student-athletes have achieved the level of academic success necessary to be named to the Spring 2010 CSAC All-Academic Team,” said CSAC Commissioner, Amy Friedman. “These student-athletes have assumed leadership roles on their campuses by demonstrating that a complete education includes both academics and athletics.”
Rosemont had 17 student-athletes on the list, 12 more than the previous year.
Junior Greg Gardner (Sharon Hill/Monsignor Bonner) was named to both men’s basketball and men’s tennis.
For women’s basketball senior Janise Henderson (Greenwood, Del./Sussex Tech), juniors Christa Bednarek (Philadelphia/St. Basils), Karen Boyle (Swarthmore/Archbishop Prendergast) and Heather Daneker (New Cumberland/Cedar Cliff), sophomore Tanisha Lockerman (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and first year Rachelle Allen (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) were all honored.
Seniors Elizabeth Kemp (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) and Lindley Rittweger (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Area), juniors Boyle and Ashley Conti (Little Falls, N.Y./Passaic Valley), sophomore Caitlin Edgar (Browns Mills, N.J./Pemberton) and first years Anne Murphy (Potomac, Md./St. Johns College) and Nicole Schilk (Rockledge/Nazareth) all made the cut for women’s lacrosse.
For softball, junior Daneker, sophomores Ciara Figlioulo (Eagleville, Pa./Methacton) and Marissa Meyers (Philadelphia/Northeast) and first years Whitney Cheddar (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) and Krystal Aquino (Philadelphia/Lincoln) all made the grade.
