ROSEMONT – Brian O’Doherty has been named the assistant coach under head coach Leigh Pesko for the women’s lacrosse program. “I am looking forward to working with Coach Pesko,” said O’Doherty. “I’ll be helping her in recruiting goals and creating a new team through commitment and hard work. I am excited to get out on the field with the team and bring it success.”
Like Pesko, O’Doherty will bring a strong lacrosse background to the program. He was a two-year letter winner for the Upper Darby High School Men’s Varsity Lacrosse Team. From there, he went on to start for four years on the Albright College Men’s Lacrosse Club Team.
After graduating from Albright, O’Doherty joined the Wilmington Woodpeckers, a competitive men’s lacrosse league in Delaware, of which he is still a member.
O’Doherty is also a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association certified official and officiates football and men’s lacrosse games in his spare time.
Currently, O’Doherty works as an admissions counselor in the School of Graduate and Professional Studies at Rosemont College. He is pursuing his M.B.A. at Rosemont and looks to graduate in 2011.
The women’s lacrosse team will begin competing in the 2010 spring season. It’s first game will be on Thursday, March 18th against Penn State – Abington.
