Derrick Carter Accepts Sam Cozen Award

PHILADELPHIA – Senior co-captain Derrick Carter (Port Norris, NJ/Millville) was honored by accepting the Sam Cozen Award on Tuesday afternoon at the Philadelphia Small College Coaches Luncheon. The award is presented to local men's basketball players who excel both on and off the court.

Carter completed his most productive season this year, culminating in being named to the All-CSAC Second Team.

The senior set new program records for career field goal percentage (47.5%), 2nd in blocks, 3rd in 3-point field goal percentage, 3rd in rebounds, 3rd in free throw attempts 3rd in field goals made, 3rd in free throws made and 3rd in free throw percentage. Carter scored the most points in a season for the four-year-old program with 443 points, averaging 17.7 points/game. He also set or tied program-best single-season marks for blocks (28), field goals made (173) and field goal percentage (.510). Carter set a single game record for Rosemont reeling in 17 boards against Centenary this season.

He led the Ravens this season in points scored, minutes played, field goals made and attempted, free throws made and attempted, defensive rebounds, total rebounds (averaging 6.1/game) and blocks.

Carter was named Player-of-the-Week by the CSAC once this season and was a four-year letter-winner for the Ravens.
