Men’s Soccer Garners Seven All-CSAC Team Members and Coach of the Year

ASTON, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has announced its 2012 men’s soccer end of the year awards. The awards were determined by a vote of the league’s ten head coaches.

Rosemont players garnered seven spots in the first and second All-CSAC teams and Rosemont’s head coach was named Coach of the Year for the second time in four years.

Making the First Team All-CSAC were seniors Ryan Hartzell (Willow Grove, Pa.) and Pat McElroy (Stratford, NJ).

Hartzell was consistently brilliant on defense and managed to hit the scoring column this season with two goals (one game-winning goal), an assist and 11 shots on goal.

Pat McElroy had a breakout season at forward, leading the CSAC in goals (14), points (29), and game-winning goals (5).

Rosemont had four players represented on the Second Team All-CSAC. Seniors Nick Hulayew (Hatboro, Pa.), Ryan McElroy (Stratford, NJ) and Rodney Aguirre (Hammonton, NJ) made the squad, as did Rosemont sophomore Luke McIlvaine (Feasterville, Pa.).

Hulayew had an outstanding season in front of goal for the Ravens, earning a record of 9-5-1. He shut Ravens opponents four times (2^nd in CSAC) this season. Nick was also among the CSAC leading keepers in goals against average (2^nd) and save percentage (4^th).

Ryan McElroy played a spirited game this season leading to a tremendous year on the defensive side of the field for the Ravens. Aguirre was one of Rosemont’s top scoring threats, ending the season with six goals and three assists, leading the team in shooting percentage (.207). Rodney finished 2^nd on the team in goals scored (6) and assists (3) and had two game-winning goals.

As a sophomore, Luke McIlvaine showed great skills on the field this season, netting five goals (3^rd best on the team) with three assists (tied for 2^nd on the team) for 13 points this season. McIlvaine booted home one game-winning goal for the Ravens this season.

Rosemont’s Head Coach Will Nord was voted CSAC Coach of the Year. Nord, in his fourth year at the helm, led the Ravens to an 11-8-1 record, and the second seed in the CSAC playoffs with a 7-2 conference mark, as the squad made its first ever appearance in the CSAC championship match. This marks the second time that Coach Nord has been voted as the CSAC Coach of the year, winning the voting at the end of the team’s inaugural season in 2009.

Senior Ahmed Faik (Baghdad, Iraq) was named by Coach Nord as Rosemont's representative on the CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team for men’s soccer. The All-Sportsmanship team is comprised of one member from each CSAC institution's team that has displayed good sportsmanship throughout the season. Each institution's coach nominates the student-athlete to be named to the team.
