Montecchio Named CSAC Player-of-the-Year

ASTON, Pa. - Rosemont senior Ashley Montecchio (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) today was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Player-of-the-Year for the 2012-2013 season and was also named to the All-CSAC First Team.

Montecchio had a phenomenal season for the Ravens. She is ranked first in the nation (NCAA Division III) in scoring, averaging 25 points per game. She is also ranked among the national leaders in double-doubles (10th), steals per game (32nd) and in rebounds per game (33rd).

Within the CSAC, Montecchio was ranked in the top four in scoring (1st), blocked shots (1st), defensive rebounds (1st), rebounding (2nd), steals (2nd), free throw percentage (4th) and offensive rebounds (4th).

Montecchio has set impressive new records for the Rosemont program during her career, and especially this season. She set new records in scoring, becoming the program's new career scoring leader with 1,707 points, breaking the old record of 1,429 points set by Katie Linder (2003-2007) and scoring the most points in a season (currently 625), breaking the record of 499 set by Ekaterina Markova in 2000-2001. The other new marks that Montecchio surpassed this year were: 

* Career: Blocks, Rebounds, Field Goals Made, Free Throws Made

* Single Season: Points, Steals, Free Throw Attempts, Free Throws Made

* Single Game: Points (twice), Free Throw Attempts, Free Throws Made

Montecchio, along with teammate Liz Coyne, are the first Rosemont players to be named to the conference’s First Team since Katie Linder in 2006-2007, and is the first Rosemont player to be named the conferences' Player-of-the-Year.
