FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RAMBLER STUDENT-ATHLETE ACCEPTS INTERNATIONAL POSITION

ROSEMONT, Pa- Senior softball and field hockey player Kristen Reilly (Pottstown, Pa./Boyertown) has earned the opportunity to go oversees to Strasbourg, France and teach English. The position is part of a program, which is through the French Ministry of Education and Cultural Services, which seeks English and French speaking American candidates to work as teaching assistants in French primary and secondary schools.

“I heard about the program freshman or sophomore year from Dr. Conwell and wanted to do it ever since,” said Reilly. “My mind was set from then on to do this program after I graduated."

Reilly, a French Studies major, has been over to France multiple times since high school. She passed the DELF B2 French Proficiency Exam and has been awarded a diploma from the French Government. On top of this, she has been a four year starter on the field hockey team, serving as co-captain her senior year. She also has lettered in softball this past spring. Off the field, she is the Co-President and founding member of L'Association Francophone de Rosemont, the college’s French club.

The position will begin in October, but Reilly is set to leave in late September. “I have to leave at the end of the September for orientation and to get settled before starting,” said Reilly. “As an English language assistant, I am there to get the kids to speak English through various activities and lessons that I have to plan.”

Once there, Reilly will spend 6-9 months teaching at the Academie de Strasbourg. “I don't know yet the schools I'll be teaching in or the age group,” said Reilly. “I'll be there between 7 and 9 months, depending on the contract I get.”

“I'm so excited,” adds Reilly. “Strasbourg was my first choice, so I'm happy about that. This will be a great experience for me. I was a little worried I wouldn't get it, but when I got my acceptance e-mail, I was so happy.”
