The Rosemont College men's basketball team completed their 2011-2012 regular season with a 66-61 win at Baptist Bible last night. After the dust had settled, the Raven's 9-9 record in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) earned them the fourth seed (of six) in the post-season conference playoffs and a quarter-final home game against the Knights of Neumann University.
The Ravens finished with an overall record of 13-12, representing the most wins in a season and their first above ".500" record for the regular season for the program in only its third season.
The CSAC quarter-final game against Neumann (12-13, 9-9 CSAC) will be held at Rosemont's Alumnae Hall at 3:00pm on Saturday, February 18.
Rosemont's road to the playoffs looked secure after a stunning win over the #2 seed Keystone Giants by a 93-88 score on 2/8/2012. After that victory, though, the Ravens lost a pair of games to CSAC rivals Centenary College and Immaculata University to drop from third place to fifth place in the conference standings. Going into last night's game there were three teams with identical 8-9 records and two teams with 7-10 records, all with a chance at the last three playoff spots.
Rosemont's win over Baptist Bible gave them a 9-9 record, and the Ravens held the tie-breaker over Neumann, thanks to Rosemont defeating Keystone earlier in the month.
Neumann's chance to make the playoffs looked slim towards the end of January as they were coming off a three-game losing streak to Baptist Bible, Keystone and Centenary to take their CSAC record to 5-7 on January 25th. A home win against Rosemont started a three-game winning streak for the Knights putting them back in contention. After two losses to Gwynedd-Mercy and Cabrini put the Knight's post-season hopes back on life support, the team rebounded with a huge 61-55 victory over the Marywood Pacers last night to earn the #5 seed in the playoffs.
