CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. – The Rosemont College Men’s and Women’s basketball teams recently completed a community service effort to support the Cradles to Crayons charity. The organization collects and distributes donated items to children aged 0-12 years who are in need of clothing, school supplies and toys.
The Ravens arranged a collection night for Cradles to Crayons at the Rosemont basketball doubleheader on February 8 which yielded a significant amount of donated items. Yesterday, the teams traveled to the headquarters of Crayons to Crayons to participate in a Sort-A-Thon, where the student-athletes pored over and categorized the donations made to the charity.
Men’s center Kevin Fenstermaker made the observation, "It was great to see a whole warehouse full of donated clothes. Taking a couple hours to help out the volunteers as a team was really rewarding. It’s good to know you helped out some people who really needed it to be happier."
Men’s Head Coach Ryan Tozer commented about the teams’ effort, "It was a really great, eye-opening experience. It helps put into perspective how fortunate we are to be able to play a sport we love at the college level and it's nice to give back to those who have fallen on hard times."
The Cradles to Crayons organization thanked Rosemont for their efforts. “It was the dedication, hard work and good humor of the Rosemont College team that made it all possible, and we can't thank you enough for giving up a part of your day to give back.”
