ROSEMONT, Pa. – Fresh off a successful 2012 soccer season which included participation in the CSAC Championship game, Rosemont men’s soccer seniors Ryan Hartzell, Pat McElroy and Ryan McElroy will be participating in the 2013 Pro Soccer Combine in Bradenton/Sarasota, Florida between January 8-10, 2013.

The Ravens will be coached and evaluated by representatives of the North American Soccer League, Major League Soccer and United Soccer Leagues. Specifically, representatives from the following professional soccer teams will be represented at the Combine: Fort Lauderdale Strikers, Houston Dynamo, Sporting KC, Seattle Sounders, Montreal Impact, Puerto Rico Islanders, Atlanta Silverbacks, Carolina RailHawks, Kitsap Pumas.

When the three Ravens who will be participating in the Combine were asked about their goals for the upcoming Combine, the players responded, “to put ourselves out there and experience soccer at a higher level.”

The players are treating the Combine as “basically, a tryout for Major League Soccer.” Hartzell mentioned that he, “wants to keep playing soccer” after commencement from Rosemont. For all three players the purpose of the Combine is “to see how they will match up versus NCAA Division I-caliber competition.”

The players are expecting support from a few of their teammates who will also make the trip to Florida in January. For now, the players have begun training for the event, working with an athletic trainer and following dietary recommendations. The players will begin a fundraising effort to raise the cost of the Combine, including airfare and hotel accommodations during the event.
