ROSEMONT ADDS A TOUCH OF PINK

ROSEMONT – The Rosemont College Athletic Department held its first annual WBCA Pink Zone event Thursday at the women’s basketball game against College of Notre Dame. Rosemont joins over 1500 NCAA institutions from all three divisions that have held this event throughout the month of February.

The initiative, originally name ‘Think Pink,’ was started in 2007 by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association to help in the effort to raise breast cancer awareness. All week, Rosemont athletic teams promoted the event and fundraised through various efforts including selling pink ribbons and flowers. In addition, teams posted information posters all over campus on the disease and event.

Rosemont basketball players wore special Pink Zone warm-up shirts while both teams sported pink socks throughout the game. Rosemont fans and staff donned their pink apparel and waved their pink rally towels, a giveaway by the athletic department, throughout the event.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. In total, the fundraising effort by the department and teams came to $473.
