ROSEMONT, Pa. – For the Rosemont Golf, Cross Country and Volleyball coaches, leadership by example is obvious. When it comes to competition, Rosemont coaches practice what they preach. This summer, five of Rosemont’s coaches have won and/or placed highly in competitions in the sports in which they coach at Rosemont.

Assistant Golf Coach Ari Flaisher was part of a tandem that claimed the 2011 (44th Annual) Philadelphia Better-Ball Championship title in the "Championship" flight at Cobbs Creek Golf Course. It was a comeback victory for Flaisher, representing McCall Golf Club, and his teammate Greg Jarmas (Cobbs Creek GC), as they won by one stroke over a pair of golfers representing John F. Byrne GC and Torresdale-Frankford CC. Jarmas sank a 12-foot birdie putt on the final hole to claim victory for the team.

Head Cross-Country Coach Patrick Hager has been stellar in competitions this Summer. Hager won the 5K Race for Aiden J. in Downingtown, Pa. on 6/18/2011, finishing the course in 16:01 (1:25 in front of the second place finisher). More recently, Hager missed winning the Venus 5K race in Delaware’s Cape Region by only one second, finishing in second place with a time of 15:54 (winner’s time of 15:53).

In the Broad Street 10 Mile Run, Hager finished in 32nd place out of the 26,500 runners in the event, placing him in the top 12/100th of 1% of all runners.

Rosemont Volleyball coaches Jacey Bray and Bridget Carey won the women’s division in a local charity tournament played at Colwell Park in Conshohocken on July 31. All proceeds raised in the event benefitted the Kummerer family. Mrs. Kummerer was hospitalized after going into cardiac arrest. Nikki Kummerer will be a senior at Eastern University in 2011.
