ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Rosemont Department of Athletics welcomes Evan G. Daney as the new Head Coach of the college’s men’s and women’s Cross Country program. Daney brings a wealth of success and experience in “endurance sports” to the position.
A graduate of East Stroudsburg University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science (concentration in Exercise Physiology), Daney will look to set an example for his charges which start competition in September.
Daney has earned significant honors in endurance sports. He was the top American finisher (5th overall) in the 2011 Duathlon World Championships. He was ranked #2 nationally in the USAT in 2011, Ranked #1 nationally in the USCF (US Cycling Federation) (2005-2006) and has been nationally ranked in the top 20 in either the USAT (US Triathlon) or USCF since 2004. While at East Stroudsburg, Daney ran varsity for two years. He competes in triathlon and duathlon competitions and has recently earned his professional duathlon license.
As the new Head Coach, Daney wants to, “implement a team mindset that is focused on improving and does not accept mediocre results. The team has to strive to do better! The athletes need to be motivated.” Daney’s most immediate challenge is to take inventory of his squad. He’s been “trying to learn more” about his Cross Country athletes “every day.”
Daney founded and operates a coaching service that coaches other athletes, “to surpass their goals and pursue achievements once thought to be only dreams.”
Daney is a resident of West Chester, PA.
