ROSEMONT – The Rosemont College men’s soccer team was well represented in the Colonial States Athletic Conference’s end of the year awards. Head Coach Will Nord was named the CSAC Coach of the Year for Men’s Soccer. In addition, first year players Ryan McElroy (Stratford, N.J./Sterling), Sergio Martinez (Allentown/Allentown Central Catholic), and Rodney Aguirre (Hammonton/Oakcrest) represented on the All-Conference Team. First year goalkeeper Ron Vogelei was named to the All-Sportsmanship team as well.

The CSAC Coach of the Year Award and All-Conference Team are voted on by each conference institution’s head coach. Nord was selected over nine other coaches from the conference for a standout season with the newly established team. He led a young squad to a 6-9 overall record and seventh place finish, just shy of a playoff berth. He captured his first collegiate win against Valley Forge Christian College on September 5th.

Defender McElroy and midfielder Martinez were selected to the All-Conference Second team. McElroy was wall on defense displaying strong tackles and helping the team to three shutouts during the season. Martinez was no slouch in the midfield displaying strong touches and dodges and notching a goal and two assists.

Aguirre was named an All-Conference Honorable Mention. As a forward, he led the team in goals with six goals, including three game winners. He also tallied two assists on the season.

Rounding out the award winners was Vogelei. He was named to the CSAC All-Sportsmanship team. This team is comprised of one member of each conference team that is nominated by the team’s coach. Throughout the season, Vogelei was the model of sportsmanship, showing respect for all and demonstrating strong character.

Congratulations to Nord, McElroy, Martinez, Aguirre and Vogelei for their awards.
